Dear Creative Friend,

I finally finished my "Inner Light" Self Portrait, the next level. The dragon represents longevity and wisdom, the passion flowers, my strong faith in Christ, the butterfly represents finding joy in life and then there are the color meanings and so much more meaningful items shining through as my inner light, on canvas. I have a workshop called "Your Inner Light a Self Portrait", where you can create your very own inner light portrait. Next workshop will be May 10th and 11th at Gypsy Muse Studio in Grapevine.

Make and Take "Butterflies Are Free" Canvas ,  Sunday April 27th



I will lead you through the steps to create your own “Butterflies Are Free” mixed media canvas, using mixed media techniques. You can choose your colors or use the colors I have picked out, to create this 8″ x 10″ x 1/2″ canvas. Visual Art Journaling  Thur. April 24th and Saturday Aprii 27th

This class is for the beginner or for those who have taken the Visual Journaling Workshop Backgrounds and Textures  and also for those who want to continue filling their journals that they have started at Gypsy Muse Studio. Each class will center around either a particular technique, theme, lyric or quote. This is a two hour class, we will go through all the techniques necessary to complete your page, but it will depend upon where you are in your visual art journal journey, as to completion of the page.

I will lead you through the steps to create your very own mixed media canvas using india ink, bees wax and other materials. Bees wax is such a wonderfully natural medium to use in our art, the soft glow is so visually interesting. Come join me as we create our "Bees Wax" art piece. Dear Creative Friend,

January is always a busy month for me. I am closing out last year and looking at how I can do things simpler, more organized; how can I step lighter and  leave gentler footprints myself, as well as on those around me.

"Closing out 2013"



So those are my gentle footprints on my end of the year inventory, bookwork, closing up loose ends. Ok, so maybe those are my prints as I stamped all over them. Book work is not my favorite thing, lucky for me I have a wonderful book keeper that keeps me straight. Thank you Lori!

Star Gazer Lily

Our Texas summer is in full swing, with 100 degree days, it definetly does a number on our flowers. So last Sunday, I went to a nearby market to find some flowers for my Sunday Watercolor class ladies, to paint. I came out with this fabulous Star Gazer Lily. The ladies did a great job of starting their lilies and we will continue working on them next Sunday, then I will post their starts and fabulous finishes.

However, I just couldn't quit, and have been working on and off on it this week. The Lily had two unopened blooms and one of them opened a couple of days later. It was also unbelievably beautiful. Here is my progress on the Star Gazer, not finished, still have to work on the leaves and the blooms, but it is coming along.

Flowers and Shadows

In our last watercolor class we used a light source to cast exaggerated shadows on our flowers. We then used complementary colors to create our flowers and cast shadows. For the most part we finished up, but still had a little work to do on some. Once again the ladies did a fantastic job.

Flowers and Eight Panes

What fun we have been having in our watercolor classes the last couple of Sundays. These ladies can paint, no matter what they say. We have been spending a lot of time on flowers, they are just so beautiful in my front and side yard. Cone flowers, sunflowers, day lilies, zinnias oh my! We also created an eight pane window using complimentary colors, turning cone flowers into sunflowers. We didn’t quit finish, but what a great start.
